What is the scope of surveying??

As we all know survey is the process of measuring land in order to find out its boundaries.
Surveying includes levelling ,in which it is possible to find the elevations or levels or height of the points with respect to a given or assumed datum. Levelling is essentially a process of determining the positions of  the points in a vertical plane .

Scope of surveying are : 


  • In preparation of plan and maps .when we plot drawn all the survey points on paper will constitute a plan .
  • To know the dimensions of any construction site .
  • To establish boundaries of land .
  • To measure area and volume of land .
  • To choose proper site for an engineering project.
  • To conduct all kinds of survey(engineering survey, topological, military, environmental survey, global positioning survey etc).
  • To get information about physical earth , environment in 3D space .

Objective of survey

The objective of survey is to collect field data of the area surveyed ,to plot dimensions and planning of any site and start construction projects, surveying makes the future generation engineers to do their job more precisely with already surveyed data and to compare changes in the survey's .

Colour of Cement . Cement has become the basic and important part in the Feild of construction. Earlier Egyptians used calcined gypsum as cement and greeks and Roman used lime made by heating limestone and added mortar with coarsar stones for concrete. And then finally in cement was discovered in 1824 by burning finely ground chalk and clay until carbon dioxide is removed. Now cement and its composition is well known by anyone . But how many of them know why cement is grey in colour ? Generally cement is not fully grey in colour. Instead it also consists whitish grey colours also . This whitish Grey colour of the cement is due to the presence of iron  in the cement. This is because to make white cement, we need ingredients which donot dicolour it. The primary culprit is Fe2O3 . In the other ingredients (limestone , clay and little gypsum ). Chromium and Manganese are also a source of discoloration. However, making white cement requires sintering into clinker at around 1600C

Types of survey  We all know what surveying in civil engineering means and in civil engineering survey there are two types Geodetic and plane survey. What is Geodetic survey? The survey in which the shape and curvature of earth is taken into account. Here the true shape of the earth is taken into consideration. This type of surveying is being carried out for highly precise work and is adopted for surveying of large area. It is also called as land survey because curvature of earth is taken into consideration. Since we know that we cannot place two points or draw a straight line on earths surface we use geodetic survey . The term geodetic was taken because earths shape is geoid .
