what is coastal engineering
coastal engineering
So far you knew that coastal engineering is something like civil work done near the coastal region .but actually coastal engineering is a small part in civil engineering in which construction takes place near or at the coast and they also are concerned about development of the coast.here development means they provide protection against tsunami, waves, other disasters .They always work to reduce the impact of these in the areas like oceans, seas, seashore, beach etc.
Besides this coastal engineers also do works like environmental impact assessment, port development and port defense and energy production facilities.
Here coastal engineering deals with waves and climate conditions ,storms, tides and even seismically triggered waves because the main aspect of the coastal engineering is the protection or defence of costal areas.

Responsibilities of coastal engineers
- Erosion and flood control
Erosion protection and protection is one of the main responsibility of coastal engineer. They provide protection against the devastation attributed to either erosion or storm waves.
And coming on flood control
With adequately engineered and developed defenses, the negative effects of the bad weather are reduced and therefore flooding is averted.

- Harbors and coastal engineering
Coastal engineers construct artificial harbors by installing breakwaters along with other marine structures, generating a safe refuge for vessels, wherever no natural harbor exists. These kind of artificial structures suck in the pressure of the waves, repelling it from hitting the vessels anchored in the harbors .
